Squash Butternut of the Waltham variety produces fruits that are more uniform in size with fewer crookneck shapes to them. In addition, the fruit has tiny seeds, which gives the fruit more flesh.
A longer shelf life makes it easier for transportation and makes it very profitable in the market.
Squash butternut matures 85-90 days after planting it, and its potential yield averages 23-30 tons per acre under good farming practices.
The plant has shown exceptional field resistance to mosaic virus.
